There are moments in life that refuse to be hurried.

Some stories arrive effortlessly, spilling onto paper as though they have been waiting their entire existence to be told. Others demand patience. They ask to be lived before they can be understood. And then there are those rare stories that quietly wait, revealing themselves only when the time is right.

The Road to Kali has been one of those stories.

Today, I am incredibly proud to welcome you to its official home.

After years of reflection, revision and rediscovery, The Road to Kali is finally being released to the world, beginning with its very first edition as an eBook. While a beautifully crafted paperback will follow, I wanted this journey to begin in a way that reflected the very essence of how it was created — digitally connected, born during a time when the world itself had become separated.

This is more than the launch of a book.

It is the culmination of a creative journey that began during one of the most uncertain chapters in modern history.

Like millions of people across the globe, my life changed overnight during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Businesses closed. The world fell silent. Families were separated. Every day seemed to bring another uncertainty, another restriction, another reminder that life as we knew it had disappeared.

For many, lockdown became a period of isolation.

For me, it became a canvas.

Over twelve months, within the walls of my own home, I began creating something I had never imagined I would one day share with the world.

Every photograph featured throughout this book was captured by me during lockdown. Every recipe was prepared, styled and photographed in my own kitchen. Every page was written from the quiet solitude that so many of us experienced. The cover was designed by my own hands. Even this very website has been imagined, designed and built by me.

Not because I wanted complete control — but because this entire project became deeply personal.

It became a reminder that even when the world stops moving, creativity never has to.

When people ask me what The Road to Kali is, I often struggle to answer.

It isn't simply a memoir. It isn't simply a cookbook. It isn't simply a collection of family stories.

It is something I came to call a Foodoir — a memoir told through food.

Every chapter explores a different season of my life. Every recipe that follows has been intentionally chosen because it carries the emotional weight of the story you've just read.

If a chapter speaks about family gathering around the table, you'll find recipes that celebrate bread, sharing and togetherness. If a chapter reflects on love, you'll discover dishes that became part of those memories. If a chapter explores loss, healing or celebration, the food quietly continues the conversation long after the final sentence.

In my family, meals were never simply about eating. They were where stories were told. Arguments were resolved. Laughter echoed through the house. Traditions were passed from one generation to the next.

Food became our language long before we realised it.

That is why every recipe belongs exactly where it appears. They are not interruptions. They are chapters of the story themselves.

Although the manuscript was written in just twelve months, the book itself waited almost five years before finding its way to you.

Life continued. The world reopened. Dreams changed. New businesses were born. Others came to an end. Technology evolved faster than any of us imagined. The uncertainty of the pandemic slowly gave way to an entirely new world.

And throughout all of that — the manuscript waited.

Looking back now, I don't believe it was unfinished. I believe it simply wasn't time.

Some stories reveal themselves exactly when they are meant to. Perhaps books possess their own quiet wisdom. Perhaps this one always knew that its journey would begin today.

As a first-time author, I didn't simply want readers to read my story. I wanted them to experience it.

From the very beginning, I imagined The Road to Kali almost like a film. Every chapter carries its own emotional rhythm. Its own colour. Its own atmosphere.

It only felt natural that each chapter should eventually have its own soundtrack. Over the coming months, original music inspired by every chapter will be released here on the website, allowing readers to experience the story through another sense entirely.

Words. Food. Photography. Music. Memory.

Together they become something larger than a book. They become an experience.

Releasing The Road to Kali as an eBook first allows this journey to begin immediately, making it accessible to readers around the world while we prepare what I hope will become a truly beautiful collector's paperback edition.

The paperback has always been part of the vision.

Some books deserve to live on a shelf. Others deserve to live beside your morning coffee, gathering fingerprints, folded corners and handwritten notes in the margins.

I hope this book becomes one of those.
